Loved it! We thought this was a really good way to use all the fruits we typically have tons of in the winter! I used dried cherries instead of the cranberries, simply because that's what I had. Thank you for the great recipe!
Lindsay
Love this! It's been requested every Thanksgiving and Christmas since I tried it a few years ago 🙂 I usually get an extra lime or two to spritz some of the juice on the apples and pears right after slicing. (Though I still slice day-of to be safe). Seems to help reduce the browning and we're able to enjoy it for a couple days after, assuming there are any leftovers! Thank you for sharing such a great recipe that my family can't seem to get enough of!
Julia
Lindsay, thank you so much for stopping by and sharing such positive feedback! It means a lot to me! I am glad you've been enjoying this recipe for several years now over the holidays! 🙂

Did this for Thanksgiving 2019 and it was a big hit Thanks!
Julia
So happy to hear that!
Michelle
Any suggestions for making it the night before? Will the apples and pears brown if prepared early?
Julia
Yes, the sliced apples and pears will brown if you make this in advance.
Judy
Loved it. The lime juice kept the apples from turning brown. Really a pretty salad
Julia
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the comment!
Lori Smrcka
can I make this ahead of time possible over night?
veta
Could I leave out the pears and substitute green apples with the red?
Sandy
Sure why not?
Julia
Yes, you could leave out the pears and use green apples.

I know this is a late comment, but I wanted to confirm that this recipe deserves ALL the praise! I made this for the first time today to bring to my child's school Thanksgiving potluck, and I received so many compliments. I also used mandarin oranges in juice (though I strained the juice out) in lieu of tangerines. For anyone curious, I made this about 7 hours ago, and the apples and pears in the small container I saved for the rest of my family are still holding their color nicely. I'm going to be making this for all the potlucks this, and future, holiday seasons. Thanks for sharing this easy recipe!

Does this call for real maple syrup or the pancake kind?
Julia
It's best to use real maple syrup.

How many does this serve? Trying to decide how much I need to multiply the ingredients for 3 full families. (including one very large family)
Julia
