How many e-mails can you expect per week?
- I send a WEEKLY NEWSLETTER on Saturday or Sunday. It includes a Weekly Meal Plan for the following week (7 dinners + 3 healthy salads) + new recipe update (any new recipes I published the previous week). The meal plan and the newsletter are 100% free just like everything else on my website. I also provide a brief glimpse into my everyday life (to, hopefully, keep my newsletter somewhat exciting): it usually involves hiking in Colorado or being outdoors elsewhere, enjoying nature. You can learn more about my cooking philosophy on my ABOUT page.
- Recipe round-ups. I also regularly send out round-ups, for example: 10 Best Shrimp Recipes; 10 Best Apple Recipes for the Fall; 7 easy sheet pan recipes; 6 weeknight dinners for busy evenings, etc. It changes with season and with the time of year.
- If using GMAIL, check your PROMOTIONS folder - my e-mails might be hanging out over there. In that case, move my e-mails to your PRIMARY folder so as not to miss them next time.
- The subscription is 100% free, and you can unsubscribe at any time (the Unsubscribe button is at the bottom of all my e-mails). You can also re-subscribe at any time! 🙂 I am happy to have you!
- How to UNSUBSCRIBE? At the bottom of all my e-mails is the Unsubscribe link - scroll all the way down to the bottom of an e-mail and click on it - you will be unsubscribed!
- My e-mail subscriber list will be pruned 3 times a year, which means that subscribers who have not opened any of my e-mails in the last 90 days or have not clicked from my e-mail to my site within the last 90 days - these subscribers will be carefully removed from my e-mail list. I think it's a win-win situation for both you and me. It keeps your email uncluttered from extra emails, and it allows me to have a more manageable email list. Of course, you can re-subscribe at any time, or subscribe for a limited amount of time for a specific series of e-mails I have going at any time (depending on the season and the time of year).
What kind of recipes can you expect?
- I love to cook with seasonal ingredients. For example, in the Fall, I create a lot of recipes with butternut squash, spaghetti squash, apples, pumpkin, you get the idea! In the Winter, I will emphasize healthier recipes + comfort food in the mix. I love using tomatoes, basil pesto, asparagus, peaches, plums, cherries, and other Summer veggies and fruits in the Summer.
- Nutrition-wise. Most of my recipes are protein-based. Many are gluten-free, low-carb, and keto. I also love to create pasta dishes and salads.

Traci Cunningham
Hi Julia,
A friend gave be a jar of Lupini Beans because they are low carb. I’m a T2 diabetic and low carb is how I need to eat. I have tried several of your recipes over the last few years because they’re pretty fast and easy, which works well for me since I’m not much of a cook. So I’m looking for ideas on what to do with these beans. I don’t know what they taste like, but I think the texture is similar to a chickpea. I’m thinking maybe a bean salad, any suggestions?
Julia
Hi Traci! Here are some of my recommendations:
You can add beans to these salads:

You can also use beans in these dinner recipes. Some of these recipes use rice, so use smaller amounts of rice or replace the rice with lower-carb alternatives like quinoa, cauliflower "rice", or farro:

Resa Cirrincione
Hi, Julia, I really enjoyed your Thai zucchini noodles but am unsure what to do with the honey. Is it 1/4 cup or 2 Tbsp? I used the 1/4 cup and it tasted great but just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a step using the 2 Tbsp. Thanks! I love your recipies and usually make 2 or more of them per week.
Julia
Hi Resa, so glad you loved my Thai zucchini noodles! I used 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons in that recipe but you can totally get away with just using 1/4 cup. I know it's confusing the way I mentioned honey twice in the ingredients list. 🙂

Please can you do a cook book as I do not have a printer and I’m an older lady but love your recipes but too hard to write down.
Julia
Hi Catherine, I am afraid there will not be enough demand for my cookbook. 🙂
Janet McIlroy
I just sent over an email and will try this also. Earlier this year I made a main dish recipe from your website that everyone loved, but now I can't find it. It is made with Italian sausage crumbles, shredded carrots, rice, and other ingredients.
Please send it to me.
Thank you
Julia
Hi Janet, is it this recipe by any chance:

or, maybe, this one:

Mary Welch
I tried to sign up for the recipe box, but it didn't take - I can't find where to sign in. I'm already on the email list.
Julia
Hi Mary, try this one: https://juliasalbum.com/cilantro-lime-black-bean-rice/#list/my-favorites
You can also save any recipe by clicking on a HEART in the lower right corner of any recipe. Then, the tag will appear next to the heart. When you click on the TAG next to the heart icon - that will take you to your FAVORITES. 🙂
