Cajun Chicken
- There are many Cajun dishes out there, but this one is special. It's a creamy Cajun chicken. The creaminess comes from the cream cheese and cheddar cheese.
- The chicken itself is bursting with spicy, smoky and savory flavors.
- The homemade Cajun spice is made with paprika, oregano, thyme, cayenne pepper, and minced garlic.
Side Dishes
Serve Cajun chicken with:
- Cilantro-lime and black bean rice.
- Plain red beans or plain black beans.
- Roasted green beans and roasted bell peppers.
- Oven-roasted sliced potatoes with garlic.
Variations
- Use skinless boneless chicken breasts or skinless boneless chicken thighs.
- Use small bell peppers or mini sweet peppers. Use 2 different colors, such as red and yellow. The recipe does not need a lot of sliced bell peppers. Add just enough bell peppers to cover the bottom of the baking dish.
- Make your own homemade Cajun spice or use a store-bought seasoning.

Hi there.
I'm wanting to make this for a family meal.
If I made it the night before would it be ok to heat up the next day? Or a few hours later?
If so how would you go about it??
Thanks.
Julia
Yes, you can make it in advance and reheat before serving. I would reheat it, uncovered, in the oven.
Crissy
This was really delicious! I may use a jalapeno cream cheese next time, served with rice and peas! Can't wait to make again!
Julia
So glad you liked it! Serving this with rice and peas sounds delicious!
Melissa
What would you serve this with? Rice, Spaghetti squash even?
Julia
Rice would be great. Rice and beans, as well. Spaghetti squash is a good idea. You can also serve this with thin pasta, such as spaghetti or angel hair pasta.

Maybe I’m missing something but where does the minced garlic go? I have it ready to pop into the oven so I guess I’ll just wing it! Haha

On the step where it says 'combine all seasoning ingredients' garlic is probably one of them
Julia
I just clarified the recipe. Add minced garlic on top of the chicken breasts after you seasoned them with Cajun seasoning.
Veronica
I don't know what I did but mine did not turn out . The chicken was not even done . It had to be the spice I got cajun spice from Weber . They did not have the regular one

Is there something I could us in place of the cayenne pepper?
Julia
You can use chili powder or red pepper flakes instead of cayenne pepper.
Shay
So good! Accidentally used regular peppers instead of mini (i didn’t read directions right lol) and it still turned out good! Flavor wasn’t too over powering but still delicious and healthy!
Julia
So glad you liked it! Yes, regular bell peppers will work too!
Kailee
My husband and I loved this recipe! It was so easy and delicious!

Could I use plain Greek yogurt in place of cream cheese?
Julia
I would use cream cheese because it adds creaminess and nice creamy texture. I don't think Greek yogurt will work here.
D
Loved it! Served it with rice.
