Easy, delicious and Italiano!

Great recipe, delicious and super easy! As we are only two, used two breasts and placed the additional sliced mushrooms on either side of the breasts covering everything with store bought spicy tomato sauce (for pasta) and mozzarella cheese. Served with garlic roasted asparagus.

Can I use a spaghetti sauce instead of marinara?

Thanks for the recipe!

I made this with no changes or substitutions and it was amazing! Chicken was tender and the dish was very flavorful. We did let it cool down for an hour before eating which I think always helps the flavors come out. This is a definite make again for us! Served with garlic sauteed green beans. I also didn't think it needed pasta, perfect as is with a veggie or salad!

I’m just put the chicken in the oven hoping for it to come out just like the photos
Amy
Do you sauté the mushrooms before you added them to the chicken? It doesn’t say so in the directions but it looks like it in the picture.
Tamara
Just put something like this in the oven, kinda without a recipe. I first butterflied boneless, skinless chicken breasts. Baking at 350, covered, for 50 minutes. Is this too long?

Can I cook this in a crock pot?

Didn't have mozzarella so using thin slices of provolone. Also, added more seasonings like garlic, onion and black pepper to my chicken breast. Brined my chicken breast first too. Its in the oven now, hope it comes out great.
Julia
Enjoy the recipe! Using provolone cheese is a good choice!

Is there anything I can use to replace the mushrooms
Julia
If you don't want to use mushrooms, you can use thinly sliced small bell peppers or sliced zucchini or both. Take a look at these 2 recipes and how I used small bell peppers and zucchini - you can use both of these veggies in this recipe.
