    1. Warwick Castle

    Warwick Castle is a medieval castle located on a bend of the River Avon, in Warwick, Warwickshire in England. The castle was built by William the Conqueror in 1068. Originally, it was a wooden motte-and-bailey castle. The castle was rebuilt in stone in the 12th century.

    2. Windsor Castle

    Windsor Castle is located in the English county of Berkshire. It is a royal residence and a weekend home of Queen Elizabeth II.

    At over 900 years old, Windsor Castle was home to many monarchs of the English royal family.  Founded in the 11th century by William the Conqueror, it is the oldest castle in the world.

    Highlights of the castle include spectacular state apartments, semi-state rooms, moat room, St. George's Chapel, changing the guard.  The castle features numerous paintings created by famous artists, beautiful pieces of furniture, stunning china, and other treasures.

    Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument consisting of standing stones. Located in Wiltshire, England, Stonehenge is only about 90 miles southwest of London.

    It is believed that Stonehenge was was constructed between 3000 BC and 2000 BC. Stonehenge is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    Bath is a wonderful, historic city located about 115 miles west of London. Located in the valley of the River Avon, Bath is famous for its Roman-built baths. Bath was a popular spa town in the Georgian era.

    Located about 60 miles northwest of London, Oxford is famous for being the home of Oxford University, one of the world's oldest universities.

    Stratford Upon Avon is located about 100 miles northwest of London, in the county of Warwickshire, on the River Avon. It is the birthplace and gravesite of William Shakespeare.

    7. Canterbury

    Canterbury is located 62 miles southeast of London. Located on the River Stour, this historic English city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    Canterbury is home to the Canterbury Cathedral, the Mother Church of the Anglican Communion.

    Other historical structures in Canterbury include the ruins of St Augustine's Abbey, the ruins of the Norman Canterbury Castle, a city wall founded in Roman times, the Westgate (the largest surviving city gate in England).
