    Palace of Versailles: Interior Apartments
I've already posted 2 photo essays about Versailles: one about The Palace of Versailles Architecture and another one about the Gardens of Versailles.  In this post, I am sharing just a few photos of the Interior Apartments at the Palace of Versailles. The Palace has an enormous number of rooms, so my photos are just a small glimpse into this impressive estate.

Since the Palace used to be home of the French Royalty, it was fun to see the opulent royal apartments in their full glory:

The Hall of Mirrors (Grande Galerie or Galerie des Glaces) is the central gallery of the Palace, and it was one of my favorites.   It's spacious and nicely lit.

Entrances to various halls are always rich in decor:

There are lots of statues throughout the estate:

And, lots of rooms with portraits:

It's easy to get overwhelmed at the Palace, there is just so much history packed into this huge place. One whole day at the Palace of Versailles will provide a good overview of the estate and what's inside, but if you're a history buff, you'll want to keep coming back here again and again.

We have been to Paris now twice, but sadly never managed yet to visit here. Too much time was always spent in the Louvre. But now..... will there really be a next time?
Your articles and especially the photographs are superb and I have passed those on to our younger daughter who only a year ago passed out of College, where she studied Architecture - she has already put this on her future 'bucket list"! Carina
