Buffalo Chicken Bake with Bacon - boneless, skinless chicken breasts topped with cream cheese and Buffalo sauce, cooked bacon, shredded Mozzarella cheese, then baked in the oven until the chicken is done (about 20-25 minutes). Simple ingredients, easy recipe, quick cooking time. I love Buffalo chicken wings, and in this recipe I am using Buffalo flavors on chicken breasts, and the result is super delicious!
To make this buffalo chicken bake, I used thinly sliced skinless boneless chicken breasts. If you purchased large chicken breasts, you can slice each large chicken breast horizontally into two even pieces to make 2 thinner chicken breasts.
I used 2 tablespoon of the Franks Red Hot Wings Buffalo Sauce and mixed it with 4 oz of softened cream cheese to spread over 4 chicken breasts. This provided just enough heat for my taste. If you like more heat, use more of the hot sauce. In this recipe, everything is baked in one pan. Easy cleanup.
I love easy chicken bake recipes where you just throw all the ingredients in one baking pan and bake, such as Broccoli Bacon Cheddar Chicken and Cream Cheese Bacon Chicken. This Buffalo Chicken Bake with Bacon is no exception. So easy!
Ingredients you need for buffalo chicken
cream cheese, softened
Franks Red Hot Wings Buffalo Sauce
cooked bacon
shredded Mozzarella cheese
4 chicken breasts
What side dish goes with buffalo chicken?
I would suggest baked beans, potato salad, cornbread, coleslaw, potato fries, roasted potatoes. If you want green sides, I suggest green beans, roasted asparagus, roasted broccoli. Coleslaws go really well with this buffalo chicken. If you feel especially adventurous, try this Brussels Sprout Coleslaw with a zest of a creamy horseradish.
How to cook buffalo chicken
Preheat oven to 375 F. Place chicken breasts in a casserole dish.
Mix softened cream cheese with Buffalo Sauce. Spread over chicken breasts.

Top with shredded Mozzarella cheese.
Bake uncovered in the preheated oven at 375 F for 20-25 minutes until chicken is done. The cooking time depends on the thickness of your chicken breasts.
What do you serve with buffalo chicken?
I really like to serve something green with my buffalo chicken, such as roasted Asiago asparagus with bacon and garlic or these garlic and bacon green beans. If you like potatoes, roasted potatoes, mashed potatoes would be great. Or, make these delicious Easy Scalloped Potatoes with Garlic, Thyme, and Parmesan cheese. For something with even more flavor, try these Cheddar, Thyme and Beer Potatoes Au Gratin.

Can I prepare this the night before ?
Made this for dinner tonight. Overall I really liked this and will make it again for sure!
I feel like next time I won't use the bacon or maybe less bacon as I found it a little too salty for me personally.
I had to cook the chicken for longer - the chicken breasts I used were pretty thick.
But again, overall amazing dinner. We had salad and roasted potatoes for the sides.
Kerry, I am so glad you gave this recipe a try and enjoyed it! Thank you for taking the time to share such positive and constructive feedback - I really appreciate it! 🙂
I’m assuming these are green scallions in the photo? Do you bake them with the fish or put on after?
Thank you
I follow a strict ketogenic diet and have been for over 8 months now. My boyfriend is definitely not following any type of diet. This was a great recipe we were able to enjoy together (he just had a biscuit on the side with his which was great for soaking up the yummy sauce) and he literally told me this was his new favorite dinner! We loved this! Thank you so much!
So happy to hear that both of you enjoyed this dinner! 🙂 Thank you for stopping by and sharing this wonderful comment!
I can’t wait try this recipe! I was wondering if I could use chicken breast that are cut up into strips before baking instead? I am cooking it for a larger crowd with other friends bringing other dishes. So a whole chicken breast maybe too much for one person. Please advise!
Yes, you can definitely use chicken breasts that are cut up into strips.

OMG!!!! This is AMAZING!! I made this as instructed, but did double the sauce, cuz, why not?! I absolutely loved it, which wasn't a surprise cuz I love buffalo chicken. However, my hubby, who likes buffalo chicken, but really isn't a fan of chicken breasts, loved it as well. In fact, he asked me to make it again this week, which I definitely will! Thanks for the easy to make & amazingly good recipe!
Thank you, Melissa, for such a wonderful comment! So glad you enjoyed this recipe! 🙂
Holy moly, super good! Even my husband, who doesn't like chicken breast, enjoyed this. The only change I made was to double the sauce/paste. Oh, and I'm not so good with measuring, so didn't measure the hot sauce, just eye balled! Very good & will be making again for sure.
So happy to hear that you enjoyed this recipe! Thank you for such a wonderful comment!
Great recipe! I made this exactly as directed, and we loved it! The chicken was moist and tender and the sauce was very flavorful, although there wasn't a ton of it. We served it with a salad and side of quinoa.
So many factors can affect how a recipe turns out, i.e. using original Philadelphia cream cheese in the block vs an off-brand; light vs regular; the softened variety that comes in the tub; full-fat cheese vs light cheese; crumbled strips of bacon vs bacon bits; the exact hot sauce mentioned or a different brand that is thinner or thicker; patting the chicken dry vs leaving it wet; previously frozen vs fresh. Many different outcomes can happen! 🙂
Judy, I am so glad you liked this recipe! Thank you for sharing your feedback! It's true that so many variables can affect the final dish.
I followed the instructions 100%. I don’t know what I did wrong but mine didn’t come out like the picture at all. My casserole dish was filled with juices by the end of baking and the cream cheese seemed to have just melted off. I wouldn’t have cared so much what the final result looked like as long as it tasted good but it didn’t. The texture was so yucky. I really wanted this to work for us but unfortunately it didn’t.
SOOOOOO GOOD AND EASY TO MAKE!
I am so happy to hear that! 🙂
Wow! These were amazing and very easy. My hubby said, "keep this recipe for a Monday Night Football meal!" I used Ghostly Garlic Pepper Sauce as the "hot sauce" from Pepper Palace and provolone cheese slices (vs shredded mozzarella). We had a ripe avocado ready to use and I added slices on top after baking the chicken.
I am so happy you liked this recipe! Thank you for stopping by and leaving your comment. Provolone cheese slices sound delicious. Great idea to top the chicken with sliced avocado!
Your recipe calls for chicken breast but the cook time is for thighs. What is the correct cooking time?
The cooking time is correct - it is for chicken breasts. I had a typo which I just corrected. Thank you so much for noticing it and bringing this to my attention!
