I tried this today and used philadelphia low fat cheese, but I wanted more of a sauce, so I fried a few mushrooms, half a red onion, chopped, and a few slices of chorizo, chopped. I mixed in 1 tbs tomato paste, half tsp dijon mustard, a splash of Worcestershire sauce, a sprinkle of hot chilli flakes, a tbs philli cheese, and enough hot chicken stock to make it into a thick sauce. I added the cooked bacon, smothered it all over the chicken, sprinkled the grated cheese on top, baked as instructed and served with baby new potatoes.... it was amazing and I'll definitely be making it the same way again and again!

Can you sub the cream cheese for something else? Daughter does not like cream cheese. Would she taste the cream cheese in this receipe?
.
Emma, you can replace the cream cheese with goat cheese, or shredded Pepper Jack cheese. You can also use part-skim, low-moisture Mozzarella cheese (that usually comes pre-shredded or as a rectangular block of cheese). Not the fresh Mozzarella (that is soft and usually comes shaped as balls or logs).
Loved it!! Full of flavor, only thing is I put a tad to much salt, guess I didn't compensate for the salty bacon!! But very good and I will be making it again.

Any way to do this in a slow cooker?
I've never done this in a slow cooker.
Hello, I had a quick question! I don't have a casserole dish am I able to use something else?
Yes, use any other baking dish of similar size (high-sided) that will fit these 4 chicken breasts plus the rest of the ingredients!
This was delicious definitely making again
Carmen, I am glad the recipe was enjoyed! 🙂
Is the calorie amount 602 per 1 full breast or one that you sliced thin?
The calorie count is per 1 serving (1 chicken breast). I believe the calculator that is used implies a fully sized chicken breast (skinless, boneless).
